Inside Out is a 2015 computer-animated comedy drama film directed by Pete Docter, produced by Pixar, and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is set in the mind of a young girl named Riley (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias), where five emotions – Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler from Free Birds), Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith from Bad Teacher), Fear (voiced by Bill Hader from Monsters University), Anger (voiced by Lewis Black from The Happy Elf and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated), and Disgust (voiced by Mindy Kaling from Wreck-It Ralph) – attempt to lead her through life as she and her parents (voiced by Diane Lane from Secretariat and Kyle MacLachlan from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) adapt to their new positions after moving to San Francisco from Minnesota.

Critical reception[]
The movie was critically-acclaimed. It received a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and a rating of 94 out of 100 on Metacritic, which means “universal acclaim”. It was praised for its concept, screenplay, subject matter, Michael Giacchino's score, and the voice acting (particularly from Poehler, Smith, Black, and Richard Kind).
